TUESDAY EIGHTH OF AUGUST - VIP Reception & General Admission

RESERVE YOUR TICKETS NOW - VIP RECEPTION RESERVATION: Guests may reserve tickets for the exclusive VIP Reception that will begin at 4p.m. for $50.00. GENERAL ADMISSION RESERVATION: Guests may reserve general admission tickets for the program that will begin at 6p.m. for $10.00.

August 8th, 1863, Black men, women, and children enslaved in Greenville, Tennessee were emancipated. In remembrance, each year, Beck commemorates the Eighth of August as Emancipation Day in the state of Tennessee.

Tuesday, August 8, Beck will host its annual Red-Carpet event at the Historic Tennessee Theatre in downtown Knoxville premiering the film, “Emmett Till: White Lies, Black Death” by Emmy-winning filmmaker, Loki Mulholland, and Pulitzer-nominated investigative reporter, Jerry Mitchell.

4PM: The VIP Reception - Tickets $50 ~ A special meet & greet with guests, Emmy-winning filmmaker, Loki Mulholland, and Pulitzer-nominated investigative reporter, Jerry Mitchell along with other special guests.

In addition to the special meet & greet, VIP Ticket holders will enjoy live entertainment with saxophonist, Casey McClintock and heavy hors d’oeuvre by Allow Me Caterers. Following the reception, VIP guests can select seating of their choosing for the feature film, Emmett Till: White Lies, Black Death, before general admission opening.

5:30PM: General Admission - Tickets $10 ~ Beck Eighth of August Red-Carpet program will include the screening of Emmett Till: White Lies, Black Death by Loki Mulholland, featuring Jerry Mitchell.

Rev. Reneé Kesler, Beck president and Dr. Robert Booker, former Beck executive director, will be your hosts for the evening of edutainment and special presentations.

EMMETT TILL: WHITE LIES, BLACK DEATH: Emmett Till wasn't killed because he whistled. He was killed because he was Black. Emmy-winning filmmaker, Loki Mulholland, and Pulitzer-nominated investigative reporter, Jerry Mitchell, crisscross the country and the Mississippi Delta to uncover the true story of the lynching of Emmett Till and the lies that were buried with him for over fifty years.


FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

WHY DOES BECK REQUIRE TICKET(S) TO BE RESERVED?

Beck has an allotment of VIP Tickets ($50) and General Admission Tickets ($10) with no additional charges or fees attached. These tickets cannot be sold online. For this reason, guests must reserve tickets before Beck can process the payment.

HOW DO I PAY FOR MY RESERVED TICKET(S)?

  • After you reserve your tickets, a Beck representative will contact you to take payment over the phone or
  • Guests may stop by Beck during operating hours and pay with cash, check or charge
  • Guests are also welcome to mail a check to Beck

WHEN IS PAYMENT DUE FOR MY RESERVED TICKETS?

  • All Reserved Tickets must be paid within 48 hours of reserving tickets or the reservation order will be cancelled.

HOW DO I GET MY TICKET(S) FOR THE EVENT?

  • Guests are welcome to pick up their pre-paid tickets from Beck during operating hours.
  • All pre-paid tickets remaining after Friday, August 4 will be taken to The Tennessee Theatre will-call and will be available for pick up at the ticket booth at the opening of the event. Photo ID required to pick up pre-purchased tickets.

CAN I PURCHASE TICKETS AT BECK?

  • Yes. Tickets may be purchased at Beck during operating hours.

CAN I PAY ONLINE?

CAN I PAY AT THE TENNESSEE THEATRE?

  • Yes. Guests may purchase tickets at the Tennessee Theatre Box Office during operating hours.
  • Guests may also purchase tickets at the Ticket Booth prior to the show while supplies last.
